Craving Sprinkles

3 Jun

Who doesn’t love a good cupcake every once in a while? Whenever I crave cupcakes, I go to Sprinkles in Beverly Hills, which has the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. They are moist, flavorful, and bring such happiness like no other cupcake bakery in the entire world. I’ve heard about this place from my good friend Jax, the biggest cupcake fan known to man, so I knew Sprinkles had to be good. Since my first bite, I was hooked and ever since then, Sprinkles has become my absolute favorite cupcakery (cupcake bakery). My bf and I ordered two dozen cupcakes (to share with friends, and Jax of course), including Red Velvet, Black and White, Strawberry Shortcake, Vanilla, Milk Chocolate, Banana Chocolate, and my new favorite flavor, Banana. Sprinkles is to die for!

We got a rather pleasant surprise when we went to Sprinkles and saw that they have a new ice cream parlor right next door. Sprinkles ice cream is handcrafted using organic California dairy and carefully selected ingredients that are slow churned to incorporate less air resulting in a densely creamy and intensely flavorful ice cream experience. I had the 2 scoops of the vanilla and salted caramel in a red velvet sugar cone, and my bf had the cookie ice cream sundae with a chocolate chip cookie, Captain Crunch ice cream, with hot fudge and whip cream. On the driving home from our little Sprinkles dessert haul, while eating my ice cream cone, I felt like a sweets bandit in the night. I thought desserts should never taste this darn good. Well, every one should have a guilty pleasure. At least every once in a while.

Craving Guppy House

6 Apr

Where does one go for the most uh-mazing, out of this world, brick toast ever? Guppy House is where. A group of friends and I went for some late night eats and treats since GH closes at 2am on the weekends. Ever since having the desserts, I have been thinking about them since. The menu is full of snacks and meals, but the desserts have probably got to be the best things on the menu. We ordered the shaved ice with red bean and taro, which was sooooo yummy. We also shared the Mixed Fruit Double Toast, one Strawberry and one Butter Coconut, with sliced mango, bananas, and strawberries drizzled with hot chocolate fudge. We added two orders of ice cream, strawberry and coffee, and we learned that the ice cream is from Fosselman’s. The portions are ginormous, but we shared everything among the six of us. The consensus of the table was while the shaved ice was noteworthy, the Butter Coconut Brick Toast was unbelievably good. It had the perfect texture, was incredibly flavorful, and I am craving it as I type. This place is going down in our books as a new favorite for desserts with friends.

Craving Genki Crepes

13 Jan

What is the sweetest thing to eat on on your birthday? Genki Crepes! Genki Crepes is one of the first things I think about whenever I am in San Francisco. Genki Crepes & Mini Mart sell these thin crepes filled with tasty goodness, in savory and sweet flavors, the sweet crepes have the option of ice cream. I always get the sweet crepe filled with mixed fruit, Nutella, and whipped cream. It is heaven! What’s funny is the paper wrapper reads: “It’s so great! It’s so great! It’s so great!…” and that’s exactly what I say to every one when I talk about this crepe. I have a serious love affair with this crepe and eating it is one of the most amazing dessert experiences of my life. The line to get in, the amount of people that fill this Asian mini mart, and the people I have introduced this place to all lead me believe that there are a ton of others who share my sentiments about this tasty dessert. My entire day was filled with amazing people and experiences, and getting a late night dessert with my friends after watching the 49ers beat the Packers was the ‘icing on the cake’ to make it the sweetest way to end the day.

Ipic Theater Is The Best Movie Watching Experience Ever!

15 Dec

Have you ever been one of those people who wanted to see a movie opening weekend, but ended up in one of the first rows because you didn’t want to, or just didn’t have the time to, wait for two hours to get a good seat? Well, I am one of those people, except now I refuse to have to wait a long time to get a good seat, it’s not worth my time. I found; however, a place that is perfect for my problem. It’s called Ipic Theater, or gold class cinemas, located in Old Town Pasadena. You can go online to ipictheaters.com, or utilize the Ipic app, or (if you are old school) pick up the phone and call, to reserve tickets for current movies. If you can’t make your showtime, you will have to call to cancel prior to the start of the movie or you will eat the money for the tickets, which is about $30. Otherwise, you can get to theaters without waiting in a ridiculous line. You can get there minutes before showtime, or even after showtime and have your reserved seats waiting for you.
I went to see Lincoln last night, which was an amazing movie (Daniel Day Lewis is so seriously talented and the movie was very well made). What is just as great about watching an amazing movie, is having an amazing experience while watching it. Ipic has such a cool atmosphere, which is why we choose to frequent it so often. When you enter the theater, you go down escalators to a little seating area that looks over the bar. You go down another set of escalators and you enter the waiting area, that looks like the lounge of a night club. There is a giant big screen television and a full service bar. Some one greets you and escorts you to a seat in the lounge or straight into the theater, depending on the time you check in before showtime. You can hang out and get some drinks or chat with your friends, your date, etc. There are six cinemas in the theater and each cinemas seats about 30-48 people, there is not one bad seat in the theater. Each seat is a plush, red recliner equipped with a storage for your purse and personal items, a pillow and blanket, and a table with a button that calls for a server who will take your order for drinks (alcoholic or non), snacks, or a full meal. Last night, I ordered a hot black tea with soy milk and one packet of Splenda, and a mediterranean salad. My boyfriend ordered the meatball sliders and we shared the coconut shrimp appetizers, bite size nachos and four cheese flatbread. I took pics of the things I received prior to the movie starting. I would lie if I said we normally don’t order like that, but we do. The menu occasionally switches up, and their desserts are pretty great, especially the death by chocolate cake, but we skipped on the dessert this time. The food cannot be beat my any other theater. Even if you opt not to eat or drink anything, a small bag of popcorn is given out on the house.
I am and always have been a huge movie goer, but my boyfriend never was before he met me. This theater has totally trained him to look forward to going to the movies because of the food and comfort at Ipic. I’m happy, and he’s happy. Ipic is the best in my opinion. I couldn’t ask for more from a theater, the food cannot be beat my any other theater that I’ve been to.
