Craving Chocolate Covered Strawberries

3 Feb

Aren’t these chocolate covered strawberries with the football designs the cutest?! I was passing Godiva and saw them in the window and the cravings hit, bringing me back to those days when I would go to Pier 39 in San Francisco to get a few. The white chocolate covered strawberries are my favorite, I can’t wait to eat them. They are a perfect dessert for Super Bowl Sunday. I will be cheering for my 49ers, almost game time…

Raving About Fan Footballs and Baseballs, Island Style

2 Feb

Who’s got it better than us (San Francisco Fans)? Nobody! It would be pretty amazing if, or rather when, the 49ers win tomorrow’s Superbowl; which would follow the Giant’s World Series win. After coming back from Hawaii, I thought I’d share the pieces of art that I ordered from an artist who resides in Maui by the name of Vince, who hand paints coconuts with various designs. Being a big time sports fan, I ordered a football and baseball with our sports teams logos to give to one of my best friends and her hubby to add to their extensive fan memorabilia. They are usually sold in Hawaiian flea markets as souvenirs, but can also be ordered by sending an email to: salondelacruz@yahoo.com. I enjoy supporting local artists and think these make great and unique gifts. The ultimate gift to us fans; however, would be the Superbowl trophy going to SF.

Very Shoeperstitious

14 Jan

Have you watched those Budweiser commercials that have people doing the silliest things for their sports teams with the notion that those things are the reason for their team’s win? I went to root for the 49ers at home against the Packers, wearing my Ash Bowie sneakers, and on the way to our amazing seats (center of the field, near the 50 yard line) I thought, how many people are wearing their “lucky” hat or underwear? I’m not normally superstitious, but I was guilty of wearing the same bracelet that I wore on the last playoff game I went to when the 49ers beat the Saints, and my BFF wore the same lucky socks. My Bowies were very skeptical about the notion of some “magical” trinket, article of clothing, or ritual that must be worn or done at each game to ensure a victory. The 49ers won and every fan, including my shoes, celebrated. The shoes were jumping up and down for joy, with me in them of course. They didn’t want to admit it to me, but I overheard them speaking to each other saying they aren’t changing their laces until the Niners win the Superbowl and achieve the Quest For Six. When you believe in things you don’t understand, then you suffer, Shoeperstition ain’t the way.

Savoring My Birthday

12 Jan

What’s the sweetest thing to wake up to on your birthday? The amazing birthday wishes from your friends and loved ones. In addition to spending time with my family, my boyfriend, and my friends who live in San Francisco, and being able to savor our time together, I also feel the love from my friends who aren’t in town. Being really new to the social media, I’m now dialed in to all of the events and communication that happens on Instagram. I woke up to texts and messages via Instagram from my besties of pics from awesome moments with them. There have been countless wonderful memories with my girls, and I am so blessed to have them in my life. I am looking forward to eating dim sum this morning with a dozen of my close friends, including my brother and nephew. I am also super excited to be rooting for my 49ers at Candlestick Park tonight, with tickets gifted from my best friend Dreams and her husband Ray. I have the loveliest people in my life, it wouldn’t be the same without them. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
