Some times, wouldn’t we just rather have some one else do our nails? While I have a whole set up at home to do my own gel manicures and pedicures, with a caboodle full of polishes, it’s always nice to go to the salon to have a professional do it for me. It’s so convenient to be able to sit with our feet in a tub, read those crack gossip magazines (so bad for us, but so addicting), and zone out until the hour’s up and we find our nails nicely trimmed, filed, and painted. When my previous nail salon closed shop a few years ago, without any warning, from one day to the next, I found myself at Dashing Diva in Old Town Pasadena, where I was introduced to gel polish (Gelish) and gelicures. Since my nails are so brittle, I turned to acrylic and silk overlays for years prior, in order for to keep my nails from breaking and tearing and in order for the polish to stay on my nails for more than a few days. After trying a gelicure at DD, I was a quick convert. I found Gelish was the only polish that stays on my nails chip free, for up to two weeks. There is also zero dry time since the polish cures under an LED light, which means I can stop in on my lunch break for an appointment without worrying about waiting for my nails to dry. DD is such cute salon, I love going with company and love being able to treat girlfriends to a mani/padi at DD while visiting me. Whenever I’m not doing my own nails, or want to avoid spilling black polish on my cream rug like I did a few weeks ago, I always leave it to Dashing Diva for a little pampering.
