Isn’t it counterproductive for a server stop us from ordering food? I can never understand when placing an order, servers always say “Ok, I think that’s just too much food.” It happens way too often… I had a dinner date with one of my favorite persons in the whole world, Rache, and made reservations to The House. I tried to look up Asia de Cuba’s phone number on my iPhone, but discovered that it was closed; however, the search engine took me to The House, an Asian Fusion restaurant with really great reviews. I was late to our reservation (damn Aritzia, bad time management, and difficulty getting a cab in Union Square San Francisco; note to self, gotta work on the first two pronto!), but luckily Rache is very forgiving and there was already a small plate of sweet pickled cucumbers on the table. To share, we ordered three of the specials that weren’t on the menu, the yellow tail sashimi with salsa, the seared scallops, and clams in curry sauce. From the Menu, we also ordered the white shrimp and chinese chive dumplings, and two entrees: the mushroom rice with grilled prawns topped with shaved bonito and the grilled sea bass with garlic ginger soy that comes with green beans and garlic noodles. We had to convince the server that we were going to finish what we ordered and her response was “Well, all I’ll have to do is pack everything up when you can’t eat any more.” The food was delicious! To the server’s surprise, there was nothing to pack. Never judge a girl’s appetite by the size of her stomach. Looks can be deceiving.
Dinner didn’t give us enough time to catch up and hang out, so we walked down Columbus and passed by all of the busy Italian eateries and friendly shop owners and keepers trying to promote some patronage to their establishments. We ended up at Caffe Greco for some Black Tea and I had an Italian dessert, a Strawberry Bambino.
The night was awesome, I was able to savor a great night with all that I was craving – good food, and more importantly, time with Rache. What I treat!
I’m quite sure I’d leave if anyone ever told me I’d ordered too much food!!! Your pictures are always so fantastic!
🙂 I’d have to leave a lot of restaurants because I am told that pretty often. I do usually order a lot, but I think mostly people underestimate my abilities and appetite and I usually dine with people who love food just as much as I do. I don’t get offended easily, I think it’s sort of amusing because I surprise people.. Thanks about the pics, I guess food can’t help but look pretty fantastic, so it kinda makes my job easy. Nice hearing from you, hope all is well.
All that food looks awesome! I was once out with a group of friends and the waiter literally said, “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!” we promptly ordered four waters and the poor guy got no tip for the night. I think he regretted his choice of words pretty quickly!
The food was pretty tasty… Eeek, if skinny feels anything like hungry, then skinny, for me, would feel pretty miserable (not good at all). I don’t think any one would to experience my wrath when I get hangry (hungry+angry) because that’s what usually happens if I don’t have food in my system. No food = no blog, and that would be the worst!
Sorry you had to hear that from some one, especially in food service, I think that person might be in the wrong field. I chose to insist on our order and on eating it all, she got a great tip since we ordered so much, all was well and no one had to see my hangry side.
How rude! The more you spend the bigger the tip. Silly people! Glad you still had a great night.
Right?! That’s what I’m saying! People are silly; if I were a server, I’d recommend everything! And I’d be really enthusiastic about the food, and it’s not that hard, the food there was actually really good! I’m not a server, and I still recommend food if/when it’s good! Maybe they I should do that part of their job for them and they can tip me lol 😉 jk. i didn’t take much offense to her comment, I hear it ALL the time, it’s kind of funny now bc it happens so often, but it would only get annoying if she didn’t bring out the food. Then I’d definitely say something.
